Twice a year, they take their game up a notch with the highly anticipated Half-Yearly Sale, also known as Nordstrom’s “Clearance Sale” or “Bi-annual Sale”.
This event offers shoppers the chance to snag high-quality fashion pieces at unbeatable prices – making it a must for fashion enthusiasts and bargain hunters alike.
This sale targets a more extensive range of products than just clothing, offering discounts on everything from shoes to home goods.
As you know, fashion is a seasonal industry. This cyclical nature of the fashion calendar means that older collections eventually need to make way for the new, prompting sales to move inventory.
As a result, Nordstrom’s sale inventory mainly consists of previous season items.

As the name suggests, the Half-Yearly Sales occur twice a year in late December through January and late May through early June.

Yes, Nordstrom’s December sale is the Half-Yearly sale or bi-annual sale. Other than Black Friday promotions, it is the most anticipated Nordstrom sale that takes place at the end of the year.
The most recent December Half-Yearly Sale started on December 26, 2023, and continued into early February 2024.
During December and January Nordstrom added an extra 25% off of sale prices.
Although the sale may get better and better as time goes on, I don’t suggest waiting to make a purchase.
If you see something you like, jump on it! Inventory in this sale moves quickly. What’s available today might not be available tomorrow.
Not to mention, the sale is subject to change or end at any time!
Nordstrom’s Designer Private Sale Clearance
For luxury enthusiasts and those with a habit of wearing high-end labels, Nordstrom’s Designer Private Sale is a hidden gem.
Although this sale is technically separate from Nordstrom’s Half-Yearly sale, designer items within this sale are additionally reduced as part of the bi-annual sale.
This sale is a very IYKYK event that not everyone has access to. However, you do now!

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale vs Anniversary Sale
I’m very grateful that Nordstrom holds a handful of sales events per year, but all the sale names can get confusing.
Although the Half-Yearly sales are tough to beat (in my opinion), Nordstrom is actually best known for it’s Anniversary Sale.
During the Anniversary Sale, shoppers are able to purchase brand-new autumn arrivals and collections at a discount while also saving on the essentials.
Held typically in mid-summer (usually July), it is an inverse sale of sorts, debuting incoming fall pieces at sale prices before they return to regular pricing post-event.
